# Balances
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/billing/balance
You must be an **admin** to view your credit balance and add credits.
## Balances
Click the dropdown next to your organization name and click **Billing > Manage Billing** to view your credit balance.
### Included Credits
Paid plans include a monthly credit allowance pooled organization-wide.
Credits can be tracked granularly in settings and in the sheet or sidebar.
### Add Credits
You must be on an **Individual** plan or higher to add credits. If your paid
subscription ends, purchased credits expire at the end of the month.
You can add credits automatically or make a one-time purchase. Purchased credits **roll over month to month** and never expire while your paid subscription remains active.
Additional credit pricing:
* **Individual**: Standard rate
* **Business**: Discounted rate
When automatic credit additions are enabled, you choose how many credits to add each time the balance dips below a threshold.
This keeps a pooled organization-wide balance available without requiring manual purchases. You will receive a notification each time credits are added.
You can also add credits with a one-time purchase when automatic additions are disabled.
### Cell Pricing
Simple cells may cost 1 credit to generate. More complex and research-intensive cells can cost up to 5 credits to generate. You can view exactly how many credits each job cost to run, how many cells it generated, and what sheet it is associated with on Individual and Business plans in **Settings > Analytics**.
### Chat Pricing
Chat requests start at 1 credit. Longer conversations, larger context, and requests that use tools or data sources may use additional credits.
Chat charges draw from the same organization-wide balance as cell generation.
## Enterprise Usage
Enterprise usage and credit balances work differently than self-serve usage. Please contact [support@paradigmai.com](mailto:support@paradigmai.com) directly to learn more.

# Campaign Management
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/email/email-campaigns
Track and monitor all your email campaigns from the Email page in Paradigm. View campaign status and progress from a centralized dashboard.
## Accessing the Email Page
Navigate to the **Email** page using the sidebar. This is your central hub for all email campaign management.
## Campaign Overview
The Email page displays all your campaigns organized by status. Each campaign card shows:
* **Subject line** — The email subject used in the campaign
* **Message preview** — A snippet of the email body
* **Status tag** — Current campaign status (Scheduled, Pending, In Progress, Complete)
* **Progress information** — Shows "X/Y emails sent from \[sheet name]"
* **Source sheet** — Clickable link to the originating sheet
## Managing Your Campaigns
### Campaign Status Filters
Easily track your campaigns by their sending progress:
* **All** — View all campaigns across every status
* **Pending** — Campaigns where no emails have been sent yet
* **Scheduled** - Campaigns with a future send time that have not started sending yet
* **In Progress** — Campaigns where some emails have been sent, but not all
* **Complete** — Campaigns where all emails have been successfully delivered
### Scheduled Campaigns
When you use **Schedule Send**, your campaign will appear on the Email page with a **Scheduled** status until it reaches its send time.
**What to expect:**
* You can monitor scheduled campaigns alongside active ones
* Once the scheduled time arrives, the campaign will automatically transition from **Scheduled** to **Pending** / **In Progress** as emails begin sending
* Scheduled campaigns use the same safe pacing rules as immediate sends to protect your deliverability
### Monitoring Campaign Progress
Campaign status updates automatically as emails are sent. Emails are sent with intentional delays between sends to respect provider limits and avoid triggering spam filters.
**Typical send timing:**
* Small campaigns (\< 50 emails): 5-10 minutes
* Medium campaigns (50-200 emails): 15-30 minutes
* Large campaigns (200+ emails): 30 minutes to several hours
### Navigating to Source Sheets
Click on the sheet name hyperlink on campaign cards to return to the original sheet where the campaign was created, view the data used for personalization, or create new campaigns from the same data.
### Campaign History
The Email page serves as a historical record of all your email outreach, helping you track what campaigns you've sent, reference past subject lines and content, and avoid duplicate outreach to the same recipients.
## Tips for Effective Campaign Management
1. **Monitor regularly** — Use the Email page to track campaign progress and catch sending issues early
2. **Use descriptive subjects** — Choose clear, specific subject lines that make campaigns easy to identify and reference later
3. **Plan for timing** — Account for send delays when scheduling important outreach campaigns
4. **Review past campaigns** — Use campaign history to improve future outreach strategies and avoid duplicates
5. **Stay organized** — Keep test campaigns minimal and use consistent naming conventions

# Email Setup & OAuth
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/email/email-setup
Learn how to connect your email account and manage email authentication in Paradigm.
## Connecting Your Email Account
Before you can send emails through Paradigm, you'll need to connect your email account.
### First-Time Setup
1. **Trigger the OAuth prompt**: When you attempt to send emails for the first time, you'll see a prompt to connect your account. Click `Connect OAuth`.
2. **Choose your provider**: Select either Google or Microsoft as your email provider.
3. **Authorize Paradigm**: You'll be redirected to your email provider's authorization page. Review the requested permissions and click **Allow** or **Accept**.
4. **Complete setup**: After authorizing, you'll be redirected back to Paradigm. Your connected email address will appear in the **From** field if the connection was successful.
You're now ready to compose and send emails! [Learn how to send emails →](/email/sending-emails)
## Understanding OAuth Permissions
When you connect your email account, Paradigm requests specific permissions to send emails on your behalf.
**Gmail Permissions:**
* **Send email** — Allows Paradigm to send emails from your email address
* **View your email address** — Used to identify which account is connected
* **View your basic profile info** — Displays your name, profile picture, and publicly available details
**Microsoft Permissions:**
* **Send mail** — Allows Paradigm to send emails from your email address
* **Read your profile** — Used to identify which account is connected
Paradigm **cannot** read, modify, or delete existing emails in your inbox. The
permissions are strictly limited to sending new emails.
## Token Refresh & Expiration
OAuth tokens expire periodically for security. Paradigm automatically refreshes your tokens in the background, so you don't need to reconnect manually.
**When automatic refresh might fail:**
* You changed your email account password
* You revoked Paradigm's access from your email provider's settings
* Your organization updated security policies
If this happens, you'll see an error when trying to send emails. Simply reconnect your account following the same OAuth flow.
## Security & Privacy
### How Paradigm Handles Your Credentials
* Paradigm **never** stores your email password
* OAuth tokens are encrypted and stored securely
* All email sends are logged for audit purposes
### Revoking Access
You can revoke Paradigm's access to your email account at any time from your email provider's security settings:
**For Google:**
1. Go to your [Google Account Security Settings](https://myaccount.google.com/security)
2. Click **Your connections to third-party apps & services**
3. Find Paradigm and click **Delete all connections**
**For Microsoft:**
1. Go to your [Microsoft Account Security Settings](https://account.microsoft.com/security)
2. Click **App permissions**
3. Find Paradigm and click **Revoke**
## Troubleshooting
### Missing Required Scopes
If you see "Missing required email scopes" when trying to send emails, your initial authorization was incomplete. To fix this:
1. Disconnect your email account
2. Reconnect using the OAuth flow
3. Ensure you approve **all** requested permissions during authorization
### Emails Not Sending
If your emails aren't sending, try these solutions:
* Reconnect your account if the token is invalid
* Wait 24 hours if you've hit your provider's daily limit
* Verify your email account is active and accessible
### Account Shows as Disconnected
If your previously connected account shows as disconnected or invalid, simply reconnect your account using the OAuth flow. Your previous campaigns will be preserved.
This usually happens when you:
* Changed your email password
* Manually revoked Paradigm's access from your email provider's security settings
* Your token refresh failed

# Sending Emails
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/email/sending-emails
Paradigm allows you to send mass emails from your connected email account. Each email is sent individually to recipients, with full support for dynamic personalization using your sheet data.
## Before You Begin
Make sure you've [connected your email account](/email/email-setup) before attempting to send emails.
## Selecting Recipients
There are multiple ways to initiate the email flow in Paradigm:
**From a column of emails:**
* Select a column containing email addresses
* Right-click and choose `Email selected addresses`
**From individual cells:**
* Hover over any email address cell
* Click the email icon that appears
**Using the Email button:**
* Select any cells including email addresses
* Click the **Email** button in the top right corner
## Composing Your Email
Once you've selected recipients, the email compose panel will open.
### Rich Text Editor
The compose panel includes a full-featured rich text editor that supports:
* **Text formatting**: Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough
* **Lists**: Bulleted and numbered lists
* **Alignment**: Left, center, right alignment
* **Links**: Add clickable hyperlinks
* **Variables**: Insert dynamic data from your sheet columns
### Adding Personalization with Variables
Variables are the key to sending personalized emails at scale. They automatically replace placeholders with actual data from each recipient's row.
**To insert a variable:**
1. Click the `{}` button in the editor toolbar
2. Select a column name from the dropdown
3. The variable (e.g., `{{First Name}}`) will be inserted into your email
**Variable syntax:** Variables use double curly braces: `{{Column Name}}`
**Example:**
```
Hi {{First Name}},
I noticed you work at {{Company}} and thought you might be interested in...
```
For a recipient with `First Name: John` and `Company: Acme Corp`, this becomes:
```
Hi John,
I noticed you work at Acme Corp and thought you might be interested in...
```
Variables work with AI-generated columns too! Generate personalized
icebreakers, value propositions, or research summaries using
[enrichment](/sheet-actions/enrich), then reference them in your emails.
## Sending Options
You have multiple options for sending your campaign:
### Send Separately
Click `Send Separately` to send all emails immediately.
**What happens:**
* Each email is sent individually
* Emails are queued with a few seconds delay between sends
* Personalization is applied automatically
* Any missing variables are removed from the email
**Best for:**
* Quick sends where you've already verified your content
* Simple campaigns without complex personalization
### Schedule Send
Use **Schedule Send** when you want your campaign to go out at a specific time instead of immediately.
Wherever you see the **Schedule Send** option:
* Click the caret next to the primary send button to open scheduling options
* Choose one of the presets:
* **Send in 8 hours** — queues emails to start sending 8 hours from now
* **Send tomorrow at 9am** — queues emails to start sending at 9:00 AM tomorrow
* Or choose **Custom time** to pick an exact date and time using the date-time picker
**How scheduling works:**
* Scheduled emails are saved with the selected send time
* Paradigm uses your browser’s local timezone for scheduled sends
* When the scheduled time arrives, emails are sent individually with the same safe pacing used for immediate sends
**Best for:**
* Hitting recipients’ inboxes at the start of their workday
* Scheduling follow-ups in advance so you don’t have to send them manually
* Coordinating send times across multiple campaigns
### Review Drafts
Click `Review Drafts` to preview all personalized emails before sending.
**What happens:**
* Individual drafts are created for each recipient
* You can view exactly what each person will receive
* Edit individual emails or make bulk changes
* See which variables are missing data
* Send all at once or individually
**Best for:**
* First-time campaigns with new templates
* High-value or sensitive outreach
* When you want to customize specific emails manually
* Previewing multi-variable templates and flagging missing recipient data
## Reviewing and Editing Drafts
When you choose to review drafts, you'll be taken to a dedicated review page where you can preview and edit each personalized email.
### Recipients Panel
The left panel shows all recipients with:
* Email addresses
* Status indicators
* Missing variable warnings
Recipients with missing variables will show a warning. The email will still
send, but the variable placeholder will be removed. Review these carefully
before sending.
### Editing Individual Emails
Click on any recipient to:
* View their personalized email
* Edit the subject line or body for that specific recipient
* Check that variables replaced correctly
* Send or delete that individual email
### Bulk Editing with "Edit All"
Need to make changes that apply to everyone?
1. Click `Edit All` in the review page
2. Make your changes to the template
3. All draft emails will be updated with the new content
Use "Edit All" for fixing typos or adding information, then adjust individual
emails as needed.
## Best Practices
Send a test email to yourself before launching large campaigns:
* Verify all variables are present and replacing correctly
* Check formatting across email clients
* Test all links and calls to action
Every email provider has different sending limits depending on the account
type. - Gmail personal: 500 emails/day, Google Workspace: 2,000 emails/day,
Google Workspace Enterprise accounts: 5,000 emails/day - Outlook.com /
Microsoft personal: \~300 recipients/day (up to 100 per message), Microsoft 365
Business / Exchange Online: 10,000 recipients/day (up to 500 per message)
Keep your recipient data clean and accurate to ensure successful email delivery:
* Verify column names match exactly when using variables (case-sensitive)
* Preview drafts to check variable replacements
* Remove bounced/invalid email addresses
* Clean your recipient lists regularly
## Troubleshooting
### Variables Not Replacing
If variables like `{{First Name}}` appear in sent emails, check the following:
1. Ensure column names match variable names exactly (case-sensitive)
2. Verify cells contain valid data
3. Insert variables using the `{}` button
### Unable to Find Email Button
If the **Email** button isn't showing:
1. Make sure you've selected cells with valid email addresses
2. Verify the column is set to "Email" type
3. Try a different email entrypoint (e.g., right-click on selected range)
### Emails Sending Too Slowly
Paradigm intentionally adds short delays between sends to maintain deliverability and avoid spam filters.
For large campaigns, this means sends may take several minutes to hours.
## Tips for Effective Emails
1. **Personalize with context** — Create columns with personalized research, icebreakers, or value propositions using [enrichment](/sheet-actions/enrich), then reference them as variables
2. **Keep it concise** — Personalized doesn't mean long; keep each sentence clear and intentional
3. **Test with small groups** — Send first-time campaigns to small groups to verify everything works before scaling to hundreds
4. **Monitor your campaigns** — Track your email campaigns and their statuses from the [Email](/email/email-campaigns) page

# Introduction
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/getting-started/intro
Paradigm is an AI native workspace centered around a familiar spreadsheet interface.
Paradigm automates all types of manual research and tedious spreadsheet-related tasks. Many people use Paradigm to gather, structure, and take action on data with human-level precision.
Want to jump right into Paradigm? [Get started here](https://www.paradigmai.com/waitlist)
# Files
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/platform/files
Store and manage your files from entirely within the Paradigm web app. The following covers our capabilities, from creating new files to navigating between and organizing them.
## Filesystem basics
Get familiar with the building blocks of your files and how they’re scoped.
* **Item types**: The filesystem contains two item types — folders and sheets. Folders help you organize, while sheets are the working documents you open and edit.
* **Spaces**: Your sidebar has two primary spaces:
* **Private**: Only visible to you.
* **Team**: Visible to everyone in your organization.
* **Organization-scoped**: Files are stored per organization. Switching organizations changes the entire filesystem you see (both Private and Team).
## Viewing files
There are two main ways to view your files and navigate the filesystem: through the home page and using the sidebar.
* **Sidebar mirrors your filesystem**: The tree in the sidebar is the source of truth for your structure. Clicking a sheet opens its page; clicking a folder navigates you to that folder’s view within Home.
* **Home and folder pages**: The Home page lists your top-level items. Navigating into a folder shows the same items you see nested under that folder in the sidebar.
* **Shared and Public**: The "Shared with me" and "Public sheets" sections are separate views and do not change your Private/Team filesystem. They provide quick access to sheets others shared with you or that you opened publicly.
## Creating items
Create new sheets and folders from the sidebar or command palette, and convert existing work into templates.
* **New sheet**:
* From the sidebar: click "New sheet" at the top, or use the section header actions under Private/Team.
* From the command palette: press `Cmd` + `K` (or `Ctrl` + `K`) and choose "Create new sheet."
* **New folder**: Use the section header actions under Private/Team to add a folder, then rename it as needed.
* **Upload files**: Use "Upload" in the section header to add data and automatically create a sheet. See the Upload guide for details: [Upload](/sheet-setup/upload).
* **Duplicate a sheet**: Use a sheet’s context menu to create an identical copy.
* **Create a template from a sheet**: Turn any sheet into a reusable template from the sheet’s menu. See [Templates](/sheet-setup/templates).
## Organizing and moving
Keep your workspace tidy with drag-and-drop, nesting, and quick rename actions.
* **Drag and drop**: Reorder items, move sheets into folders, and nest folders. Drop indicators show exactly where the item will land.
* **Move to root**: Drag an item to the top-level area (e.g., over "Home" in the Private section) to move it back to its root position (the top level folder).
* **Nesting**: Folders can contain both sheets and other folders for deeper organization.
* **Rename**: Use the context menu on any item to rename it.
* **Context menus**: Right-click or use the "•••" menu on an item. Options differ for folders vs sheets (e.g., create template and duplicate are sheet-specific).
## Deleting and recovery
Understand how deleting files and folders works and what to do if you need something back.
* **Delete sheet or folder**: Use the item’s context menu, then confirm. Deleting a folder removes all items inside it.
* **Irreversible in app**: Deletions take effect immediately and cascade on folders.
* **Recovery options**: See [Recovering data](/platform/recovering-data) for what can be restored and how to request help.
## Access and collaboration
Know who can see and edit items across Private, Team, Shared, and Public views.
* **Private**: Only you can see items created in your Private space.
* **Team**: Everyone in your organization can see items in Team.
* **Shared sheets**: Sheets explicitly shared with you appear under Shared; your access may be view-only or editor. If you lack edit rights, the sheet opens in view-only mode.
* **Public sheets**: Public items you’ve opened are listed separately and don’t change your Private/Team filesystem structure.
## Switching workspaces
Switch organizations to see a different Private/Team filesystem.
* **Change organization**: Open the organization menu in the sidebar header and select another workspace.
* **Scope changes**: Your Private and Team lists update to that org, and items from other orgs are no longer visible until you switch back.
## Quick actions and help
Move faster with search and command shortcuts.
* **Command palette**: Press `Cmd` + `K` (or `Ctrl` + `K`) to quickly create a sheet, open recent sheets, and jump to pages.
* **Help menu**: Use the question mark icon in the sidebar to open docs or join the community for workflow tips.
## Best practices
Simple guidelines to keep your workspace navigable as your team grows.
* **Consistent naming**: Use clear, searchable names (e.g., "Prospects — 2025 Q1").
* **Shallow hierarchy**: Prefer a few broad folders over many deep ones.
* **Choose the right space**: Draft privately; publish shared assets in Team.
* **Templatize repeat work**: Convert good patterns into templates to standardize new sheets.
## Beginner's workflow
Take the first step of your Paradigm journey: create a new folder by clicking the `Create new` button and select `New folder`.
After creating a folder, drag and drop your sheets into it to organize them. You can also put folders within other folders.
You can create sheets and folders in both the Private and Team spaces. Items created in the Private section are only visible to you. Items created in the Team space can be seen by all the members in your organization.
# Recovering Data
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/platform/recovering-data
If you accidentally delete data, please reach out to us at [team@paradigmai.com](mailto:team@paradigmai.com).
# Teams
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/platform/teams
Manage your team by clicking on the name of your workspace at the top of the left sidebar and selecting `Manage members`.
The Individual plan supports one user. Business and Enterprise workspaces can invite team members from this panel.
Now, add your team members to the team by clicking the `Invite Members` button. You can set invited members to be admins or members.
They will show up as invited in your settings until they accept or reject the invite. You can also revoke invites by clicking the `⊖` button.
On their end, they will receive an email with a link to join the team.
They will also be prompted within Paradigm to accept or reject the organization invite in the `Switch workspace` panel.
# Create Template
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/sheet-actions/create-template
Paradigm has an ecosystem where you can create and share templates.
Within an existing sheet, click the three dots to the right of the sheet title and select `Create template` to make a template with your existing column setup.
This will preserve all column prompts and settings.
Templates can be private, restricted to your team, or completely public. You can optionally include starting data in your template.
Once you publish a template, you can see it in the `Templates` page under Community, Team, or Private, depending on which visibility option you selected.
# Enrich Data
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/sheet-actions/enrich
Clicking the `Enrich` button will trigger a series of enrichment actions on the selected rows. Context is shared across each row, allowing the agent to leverage any context or previously enriched data to improve overall data quality.
Since enrichment depends on the context of the row, we disable the enrichment button when the row is empty.
Once an enrichment is complete, you can double-click on the cell to see the agent's reasoning and all cited sources.
# Share Sheets
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/sheet-actions/share
In Paradigm, you can share sheets with individuals, teams, or make them publicly available.
Share a sheet by clicking `Share` at the top right corner of a sheet. From this panel, you can add and remove users and change their editing premissions.
Sheets created under the `Team` tab are automatically shared with the rest of your team. You can collaborate in real time with teammates on these shared sheets.
You can share sheets publicly in one click. Use the `Copy Link` button to copy the link to the shared sheet. All public sheets are viewable in `Public sheets` under the `Shared` tab.
# Track Signals
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/sheet-actions/track-signals
## Overview
A Signal Agent keeps your sheet in sync with the real world so you're the first to know when something changes. It is a scheduled agent that watches each row for event changes and automatically updates your research when it happens. Use Signal Agents any time you need data that stays consistently up to date.
## How Signals Work
Instead of manually re-running research, a Signal Agent proactively searches to answer *when should this row reconsider its standing answer*.
A Signal Agent consists of two parts:
* The `Signal Criteria` defines the trigger. What real world events to watch for. You provide a description in plain language to describe the event, not the data. "A key executive at this company departs or changes roles" works; "leadership" doesn't.
* The `Columns to Update` define the cascade. These are the pre-built columns in your sheet that should be updated when the event happens. It re-runs cell agents you already built for the rows where the `Signal Criteria` has been triggered by new activity. A single Signal Agent can update several columns at once.
The Signal Agent hands what it found to the cells. They already know *why* they were triggered and check the new evidence against what's there. Every update stays grounded in the event that caused it, and the row carries why it changed.
## Example: Tech Stack Re-evaluation Signal Agent
Say you have a sheet for monitoring software companies. Through Chat, you ask to re-evaluate whether you should keep the vendor if a notable event occurs. The Signal Agent translates your intent into `Signal Criteria` to watch for *"pricing/licensing changes, M\&A activity, major outages, security breaches, etc."* and sets `Columns to Update` to four columns already in the sheet: Verdict, Rationale, Recommended Action, and Alternative Vendors.
The Signal Agent evaluates that condition row by row. For any single row, the logic is:
`Signal Criteria` is true for this row → flag the row → re-run the row's cells in the `Columns to Update`
That applies two filters in sequence, and both are worth watching.
**Which rows.** `Signal Criteria` decides. Notion has an outage. The condition is now true for the Notion row and no other, so that is the only row flagged. Zendesk, Confluence, and the rest stayed untouched because there were no notable events.
**Which cells.** `Columns to Update` decides. Inside the flagged Notion row, only the reasoning columns re-run. Vendor, Category, and Annual Spend hold because an outage doesn't change what Notion is or what you pay, only whether you should keep paying. The re-run is scoped to the cells the event can actually move.
## Setting up a Signal Agent
**Start in Chat.** Chat is often the easiest way to set up a Signal Agent. Describe what you want in plain language. It can be as broad as *"set up Signal Agents for this sheet"* or as specific as *"keep Key Contact updated whenever an executive at these companies changes roles."* Chat writes the `Signal Criteria` and picks the `Columns to Update` for you. It automatically turns your intent into the setup.
**Drop into the Signals panel to adjust or build by hand.** Whatever Chat creates is visible and editable in the Signals panel, in the toolbar above your sheet. Go there when you want to see what a Signal Agent is watching, change its `Signal Criteria` or `Columns to Update`, or set one up manually:
Open the **Signals** panel and click **New Signal**.
In `Signal Criteria`, describe the event to watch for. Keep it as the
condition, not the instruction to set up a Signal Agent. A good prompt
requires specificity, so you want to say "A key executive at this company
departs" instead of "leadership."
Under `Columns to Update`, select the columns the event should recompute.
Include only what the event can actually change (Key Contact for a
departure); leave out what won't move (Year Founded, Website).
Click **Create.** The Signal Agent runs on its own in the background and
will send you an email when there are new updates.
You can run several Signal Agents on one sheet at once, each responsible for a different event.
## Common Signals
One event usually affects more than one column, so a single Signal Agent can update several columns at once.
### A person changes jobs
* `Signal Criteria`: "*changes to job title or role"*
* `Columns to Update`: Company Name, Location, Job Title
### An executive departs
* `Signal Criteria`: *"a key executive at this company leaves or changes roles"*
* `Columns to Update`: Key Decision Makers, Recent News
### A company is acquired
* `Signal Criteria`: *"this company is acquired or announces an acquisition"*
* `Columns to Update`: Company Size, Revenue, Buying Urgency, Thesis Fit
## FAQs
Signal Agents actually help you cost optimize your credit usage. A Signal Agent spends credits on two things: (1) watching for its event and (2) recomputing a cell when that event actually fires. It doesn't re-run your columns on a loop. Because one Signal Agent can drive many columns, you pay to watch a single event once and then only for the specific cells that change. The more columns a Signal Agent covers, the more it saves against that alternative.
You can see in the cell reasoning and sources but not necessarily in a column. You can click into any refreshed cell to see the sources the agent found, the reasoning steps, and snippets from the sources that support the update. When Signal Agents fire, you also get a notification summarizing what changed and why, which surfaces the triggering event without needing to click into the sheet.
No. One Signal Agent watches one event and updates every column that event touches. An executive departure can refresh the contact name, the title, and a last-verified date under a single Signal Agent. Add another Signal Agent when you're watching another *event*, not another column.
A Signal Agent reacts to change or trigger in the world; a Scheduled Job runs on a clock. Use a Signal Agent when the answer only moves when a specific event happens — if the before and after are the same, there was nothing you needed to know. Use a Scheduled Job when you want a freshness guarantee regardless of change: like the market opening every morning, you need today's number even if it's identical to yesterday's.
| Feature | When to use | What inputs it uses |
| ------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| Signal Agent | The answer changes only when a specific event happens | Events. When there is triggered event updates. |
| Scheduled Job | The answer drifts continuously and you want a freshness guarantee regardless | Cadence-based. Runs on a clock |
| Column | The answer never needs to change after first compute | Prompt you put in |
# Webhooks
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/sheet-actions/webhook
Paradigm supports both input webhooks—to add data to your sheets—and output webhooks—to send data to outside services.
## Input webhooks
Input webhooks allow you to pull live data into your sheets from any webhook-compatible source and automatically export enriched data rows. For example, internally, we set them up to auto-enrich our incoming waitlist from our database and our recruiting candidates from our application tracking system.
When Paradigm receives data, our agent first analyzes it and extracts all relevant information to match the columns you set up. Then, Paradigm automatically enriches any missing information in the added row.
An input webhook can process and add only one row per request. Data format is flexible.
To set up an input webhook, create a new sheet and add the columns you want to extract data into. Then, click the three dots next to the title of your sheet and click `Connect webhook`.
The `Input webhook` tab should be open on the sidebar. Enable the input webhook for your sheet, copy the webhook URL and token, and paste them into your webhook-compatible source. Note that the security token is required by default, but you can choose to turn it off.
Now, all data you pull in will be enriched automatically, and this sheet will continue to update as more data comes in.
## Output webhooks
Output webhooks are the destinations where Paradigm will send the data from your sheet. Unlike input webhooks, you can have as many output webhooks per sheet as you want.
They are triggered when any cell in the sheet gets enriched. Upon triggering, the corresponding row gets sent to all active output webhooks for the sheet.
To use an output webhook, in the webhooks menu click `New webhook` under the `Output Webhooks` section of the sidebar, or navigate to one of your existing webhooks for the sheet.
Here, configure the **name** and **endpoint URL** for the webhook. Optionally, add **headers** (e.g., a token required by the endpoint) and configure the **column-to-JSON field mapping**. Note that you can fully remove mappings for columns you don't need or map one column to multiple JSON fields. Untitled columns can't be mapped.
Now, Paradigm will send rows in the specified format whenever a cell is generated. Output webhooks can be temporarily disabled when not needed.
# Workflows
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/sheet-actions/workflows
Workflows turn Paradigm into a system that runs research processes for you automatically. Connect data from sources like your CRM, spreadsheets, Slack, email, or internal documents, and let Paradigm continuously execute your team's existing research workflows.
Paradigm sits at the center of every workflow: it receives data from a trigger source, processes it, and then sends the output wherever you need it.
## How workflows work
Each workflow has three parts:
* **Input**: a trigger source that sends data to Paradigm (e.g. a CRM update, an incoming email, a Zapier zap)
* **Paradigm action**: what Paradigm does with the data
* **Output**: where Paradigm sends the result
## Creating a workflow
To create a workflow, click the ⚡ icon in the top right of your sheet and then click `New workflow`.
### 1. Set your trigger source
Click `New trigger source` and select where the incoming data will come from.
Available trigger sources include **Attio** and **Zapier**. Enterprise plans have access to direct integrations with **Salesforce**, **HubSpot**, **DealCloud**, and **Affinity**. We're continuously adding more, so reach out if you need a custom integration.
### 2. Select a Paradigm action
Choose what Paradigm should do when it receives the data:
* **Extract and enrich**: Paradigm maps the incoming data to your sheet columns and automatically fills in any missing information.
* **Extract**: Paradigm maps and structures the data into your sheet columns without additional enrichment.
### 3. Set your output destination
Click `New output destination` to choose where Paradigm sends the processed data. Currently, you can send a **Slack message**. More output destinations are coming soon.
Once configured, click `Create workflow`.
## Example workflows
* **CRM to Paradigm to Slack**: Pull data as new records are added to your CRM, enrich in Paradigm, and send a Slack message with the enriched row.
* **Granola to Paradigm**: Pull demo call notes from Granola, extract and structure budget signals, use cases, current tools, objections, and action items in Paradigm.
* **Email to Paradigm to Slack**: Forward an email to a Paradigm address, parse and extract the data, get notified in Slack.
## Enterprise integrations
We work closely with enterprise clients to build custom integrations and workflows. If you need a direct integration with a tool not listed above, [reach out to us](mailto:roee@paradigmai.com).
# Blank Sheet
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/sheet-setup/blank-sheet
Creating a blank new sheet allows you to set up your own columns and prompts from scratch.
It comes preset with empty rows and columns, and you can always add more with the `Add Row` and `Add Column` buttons.
Select the top row of an empty column to add a column title.
Notice that the `Enrich` button is disabled. This is because we don't have starting data for this cell yet. While `Chat` works even if you have no pre-existing data in that row, `Enrich` only works when you more than one data point already present in that row.
You can then type or paste in data into the first cell / column.
Notice that the `Enrich` button is now enabled. We can now generate the data for this cell. Double-clicking on a cell reveals the generated data along with the agent's steps and cited sources.
Now you can repeat similar processes to fill in the rest of the sheet or use it as you would a normal spreadsheet. You can also integrate in chat calls to build on top of this data.
# Chat Overview
Source: https://docs.paradigmai.com/sheet-setup/chat-overview
Use Chat to ask questions about your data, add context, and generate new insights.
### Finding Chat
Click the Chat button in the upper right of a sheet to start a new conversation.
### Add Columns
Use Chat to generate new columns in your sheet.
**Example prompt:** “Add a column that tags each company as enterprise or SMB.”
### Add Rows
Chat can insert new rows to expand your dataset.
**Example prompt:** “Add rows for three more companies in this market.”
### Chat vs. Cell Agent
Think of Chat and Cell Agent as complementary:
* **Chat — structure and reasoning**: Best for creating new rows/columns, running multi-step logic, and asking questions about your data.
* **Cell Agent — [data enrichment](/sheet-actions/enrich)**: Cell Agent is optimized for tool calling to obtain accurate results.
**Tip:** Use Chat to shape your sheet. Use Cell Agent to fill in the details.
### Tips
* **Build better prompts**: Ask chat to identify goals and break down a concrete plan of action.
* **Be specific with prompts**: “Add a column with a two sentence memo based on my investment thesis that AI applications will transform the future of work” is better than “Tell me about these companies”
* **Reference columns explicitly** for better accuracy (e.g., “Use `Company` and `Website` columns”).
### Troubleshooting
* **Trying to fill in data?** Use [cell enrichment](/sheet-actions/enrich), not Chat. Cell Agent runs purpose-built enrichment tools on your selected cells for higher accuracy and clearer traces.
* **No changes after a request?** Ensure you have an active sheet selected and that your prompt references columns that exist.
